EMU Faculty of Pharmacy Senior Instructer Emine Dilek ÖZYILMAZ has presented her poster entitled “Preparation and optimization of β-Cyclodextrin inclusion complexes of Atomoxetine Hydrochloride" in International Symposium of Pharmaceutical Sciences (ISOPS-13). In this study,  Atomoxetine hydrochloride- β-CD inclusion complexes have been prepared using five different molar ratios and two different mixing times were prepared using the kneading method. With the experimental design, the mixing time in the process and the optimal molar ratio of ATO and  β-CD in the preparation of inclusion complexes have been optimized. In the study, ATO: β-CD molar ratio and mixing time independent variables, loaded ATO amount and cumulative dissolved ATO amount have been selected as dependent variables and evaluated by ANOVA. In the solubility studies performed with the USP II method in the inclusion complexes, it was observed that all of the ATO dissolved into 10 minutes. Determination of the amount of ATO in inclusion complexes was performed by UV spectrophotometric method. As a result, the most appropriate inclusion complexes in terms of the cumulative amount of solute ATO and the amount of ATO loaded; It has been determined that 2:3 (ATO: β-CD) and 7:3 (ATO: β-CD) molar ratios can be obtained by mixing for 20 minutes and 40 minutes, respectively.
