EMU FACULTY OF PHARMACY MEMBERS VISITED A NURSING HOME WITHIN THE SCOPE OF RATIONAL DRUG USE

A group of faculty members and students recently visited a local nursing home and provided information about the use of drugs and correct approaches to patient's within the scope of rational drug use. This visit was organized jointly by the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Social Awareness Center and the Faculty of Pharmacy.

 

During the visit, pharmaceutical care process with a patient-oriented approach was considered for the elderly individuals with sharing knowledge on drug use  with the aim to improve the quality of life of the elderly individuals in the nursing home and to ensure its continuity. Faculty members listened from each individual their drugs used, their frequency of use and their access to a doctor, and the possible side effects of the medications were explained to them by the faculty members. During the visit, which was welcomed with interest by the patients and care staff, created an informative environment on health issues. With this visit, it was emphasized how such activities play an important role in improving access and quality of healthcare services.

 
The nursing home staff thanked the faculty members of EMU Faculty of Pharmacy for their visit and stated that such collaborations contribute significantly to the process of improving the quality of life of patients in need of special care. Faculty of Pharmacy faculty members and students also expressed that they would be happy to take part in similar social projects in the future.
