Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Pharmacy organised an Oath Taking Ceremony for its graduates prior to the 2018 – 2019 Academic Year Spring Term Graduation Ceremony. The graduates took the first step towards their profession by taking oath at a ceremony held on Friday, the 28th of June 2019 (11:00 a.m.) at Rauf Raif Denktaş Culture and Congress Center. Prior to the 2018 – 2019 Academic Year Spring Term Graduation Ceremony to be held on Tuesday, the 2nd of July 2019, 85 pharmacists took oaths to serve humanity, and uphold the ideals and obligations of their profession. The graduates vowed to maintain a life-long respect for their instructors and never to break the oaths of their profession. The oath ceremony was attended by Famagusta Mayor İsmail Arter, academic personnel, students and their families.
Following a moment of silence and the Turkish National Anthem, Faculty of Pharmacy Dean Prof. Dr. Mustafa Fethi Şahin gave a speech and noted that today is a big step in the graduates’ paths to become pharmacists. Prof. Dr. Şahin stated that EMU Faculty of Pharmacy graduates work all around the world to serve humanity and whilst highlighting his belief that each graduate will become excellent pharmacists. Prof. Dr. Şahin congratulated the graduates and families and wished them the best in their careers.
“This is a beginning not an end”
During her opening speech, Vice Rector for Administrative and Technical Affairs Prof. Dr. Naciye Doratlı stated that she is very excited and happy before indicating that this is a beginning not an end. Relaying her belief that all students will be successful in their lives after EMU, Prof. Dr. Doratlı wished all students the best of luck in their future endeavors.
EMU is Famagusta and TRNC’s Pride”
Famagusta Mayor İsmail Arter underlined that today is a very proud day stating that EMU has obtained numerous achievements in the 40 years following its establishment in 1979. Describing EMU as Famagusta and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’ (TRNC) pride Arter expressed that collaborations between EMU and the Famagusta Municipality will always continue. Arter concluded by wishing all graduates luck in their professional careers.
